Many, many hearts for this. DT and CT are in fine form - especially exciting after DT's disappointing turn in "The Day of the Doctor". I especially love that last line, "The TARDIS doesn't fizzle." He stutters the first T, and that's sooo Tenth Doctor. EEEEEE! Can't wait til May!

I'm probably being a bit of a wet blanket here, but something has changed about his vocal quality in the meantime that I keep hearing David and not Ten most of the time. There are some occasional Ten-ish squeaks and like that, but overall it's like his voice has deepened as he's gotten older and it's lost some of the high-light boyishness I associate with Ten...?

Oh, yes, I have to agree that his voice has changed a lot. You can even hear the difference if you compare performances he's done with his normal voice, for example, Much Ado About Nothing vs. Broadchurch. It doesn't bother me, though, and maybe that's because I'm used to the audios, in which all of the classic characters are played by actors who are much older now and rarely sound like they used to when they were on the show. In particular, Peter Davison sounds barely like his young Doctor. But most of them nail the character, if not the youth.

As an aside, the one I'm really impressed with is Carole Ann Ford. She's in her 70s now, and she still performs her teen-aged role really well. What's more, the performance of hers that I listened to was an audiobook in which she also did the voice of the First Doctor, and she was incredible. Yes, you could still tell it was a woman doing the voice, but the style, quality, and inflections were perfect.

I caught some of that phenomenon in the one bit of a Sixth Doctor adventure I listened to, yeah.

!

I hear Frazer Hines does a scary good Second Doctor.

You are sooo right. Frasier is amazing. I complemented him on it at G1 last year and he launched right into it. I nearly cried.

I know what you mean, although to me, it's more like glimpses of David's voice in Tenth's speech, not the other way around. Like some of his lines were only 90% and would be 100% if there were more repeats (they surely don't say each line 10 times like in the show). His voice is deeper!

I'm not going to complain, though. I was grinning after the first sentence :)

You know, I am hearing a bit of a difference in his voice. Of course, voices change. Still... so excited! I can't wait for May!

I've heard FH's 2nd Doctor voice. He said that PT's son thought it was uncanny. And I heard FH narrating the 2nd Doctor story for Destiny of the Doctor. The voices for those are great. Although my favorite was CT doing MS's Doctor. *snickerfit*

OMG- Yes to all of the above. CT as MS is a treasure. She so nails it in that. And I can see MS tugging at his bow tie, preening a bit for her, even though he can't see her.

And I love the snippet they released, especially Ten's rapid-fire response "You don't know everything about me!"

This was an instabuy, the moment it was announced.

Yes, he was totally preening, wishing she could see him. He would've completely taken an insult just to be in her company again. :)

Yeah, it was, wasn't it? :DDDDDD

I'm fine with the timbre of his voice - he's nailing the Tenth Doctor style and that's what's made me so happy with these trailers. After his lackluster performance in The Day of the Doctor, I was a bit afraid that he wouldn't get it back, and then I heard the first word of the first trailer ("DONNAAAA!") and I was dancing...

The one I really was impressed with in Destiny of the Doctor was Nicholas Briggs doing the Ninth Doctor (though the story itself wasn't particularly good). BF has the rights to do Ninth Doctor audios, so I'm hoping that eventually they let him do it (since we all know that CE will never do it).

Yes! It brought me back, hearing that clip! And promptly forced me to dare my fellow fanfic

Hmm... shame the story wasn't good. I didn't get it because it had Rose in it and I'm... beyond over her, shall we say. (Yeah, that kinda limits my ability to find good Nine stories.) But... the story I heard about what was supposed to happen in the 50th was that CE's Doctor wasn't going to have Rose with him. And there's still all those years he was alone. We could get insight into those. So... I'm not giving up hope. A man who will aid a fan in a proposal (saw it online) and send a message for a sick fan might be willing to take on the role again if the right circumstances came about. And the Big Finish people aren't the same as the people he was working with, so... *crossing fingers*

It might also be tempting for CE to do audios because they take a lot less commitment. It takes them a day to record one two-hour audio - as opposed to something like two to three weeks to do a forty-five minute TV episode. And like you said, it's a different set of people to work with, so he might enjoy it more.
