So that story I just posted yesterday. It was okay, right? I mean, nothing amazing, nothing groundbreaking, not even anything moving. Just a couple thousand words connecting the real-life colorful belt from the Byzantine era to the Doctor's scarf.

Well, I got this comment on it:


I AM LOSING MY MIND ACTUALLY 😭 CONSTANTINOPLE BEING LOUD, COLORFUL, ALIVE? VICTORIA GETTING THE BELT AND LOVING IT? JAMIE BEING SO SOFT ABOUT IT I’M UNWELL. AND THEN THE SCARF. THE SCARF. THE COLORS, THE MEMORY, JAMIE TAKING IT, THE DOCTOR KEEPING IT FOR “SOMEDAY” I AM IN SHAMBLES, PLEASE I AM BEGGING ON MY HANDS AND KNEES FOR MORE, I NEED THE NEXT UPDATE IMMEDIATELY.


And I have to ask, to anyone who cares to voice an opinion: Is this sarcasm? Are they saying it really was rubbish without making it look like a bash?

Because it's so excessive -- especially for such an average, vanilla story -- that I can't take it at face value. I mean, really, who gets emotional about a description of a city being loud and colorful? Not to mention, I didn't even describe the city at all. I just had Victoria say it was noisy and the Doctor point at the church.

And they want "the next update immediately"? This is so obviously a one-shot. Sorry about your hands and knees.

I feel like the person fed ChatGPT my story and asked it to write the most over-the-top emotional comment it could come up with.

I'm torn between answering nicely and deleting it entirely, but I'm starting to lean towards the delete.

I have seen fa girls give over the top comments, using CAPS and emojis and things like that” 😳 THIS WAS SO PERFECT AND THEY YEARNED SO MUCH <3 “ and things similar.


But this person was either

A. Just that invested.
B. Using ChatGPT like you theorized

or. C. Reading/ typing while just having a load of sugar! 🍭

I woke up
to a weird comment like this on one of my older DW fics. Though it’s not a Guest, this user has a picture. It said-

“ Ok so this is the greatest thing I've ever read it scratchs an itch in my brain “

Uhhh… did it really? I mean, this was a random fic I did where Nyssa gets a bunch of copies of herself thanks to a weird plant in the TARDIS. I wrote it in.. about an hour or two. 🤷

Yeah, that's a weird one. It's good that you're viewing it as a weird thing, that you're recognizing that it's not likely that the story is the "greatest thing" that anyone has ever read. :P Sure, it might be exactly what they were looking for, with Nyssa copies everywhere, but that comment is hyperbole.

It might be an art spam, in that the person is hoping you'll thank them so that they can offer to make you art of it (for reasonable rates, of course).

Yes, that felt a little overboard for a near-1k word thing I wrote based on a genprompt_bingo square and a ridiculous Tumblr post I saw once.
I don’t even remember posting it on Teaspoon!
