I really hope that this journal doesn't turn into a record of my reactions to watching Torchwood. Well, at the very least, I need to get myself a Jack userpic. *shrug*

Anyway, I just wanted to say that we watched "Countrycide" last night, and we loved it. It was tense and gripping, and eventually very creepy. There was very little lack of skill demonstrated by the TW team. And none of the overwrought angst that killed some of the previous episodes (sorry, Ianto, but "Cyberwoman" was awful...). I checked Graph TV to see how the episodes are rated against each other, and it's rated pretty well, and the season more or less only goes up from here (except for one episode which is rated pretty bad), so I have hope for more entertaining evenings for the rest of the week.

Random comment: You know, I *really* hate that Ten's signature item (like Eleven's fez) is the 3-D glasses. They were used once, in his first season, for a specific purpose. Why are they his signature item?? It ruins fan art for me. I just saw a gorgeous t-shirt with drawings of all the Doctors, all completely serious, except Ten had the 3-D glasses on. None of the others had extra props. It looked STUPID. Why??

Just curious: what would you suggest for Ten if you had your druthers?

Well, honestly, I just really don't feel that he needs to have one. If a Doctor is going to have a signature item, it should be something that either reflects his personality as a whole (One's walking stick, Two's recorder, Seven's umbrella) or is something that is appears at least a few times and/or is part of the ongoing story (Four's scarf, Five's celery and cricket ball, Six's cat pins, Eleven's fez). I can't actually think of signature items for Three, Eight, Nine, and Ten given these criteria. The psychic paper isn't remarkable/recognizable enough, and I'm not sure that Ten ever actually had a banana - and both would fit Nine better than Ten. His brainy specs also aren't good enough, though I love them to death.

Of course, I'm omitting actual clothing from consideration. Ten's coat is probably his signature item, as much Six's is.

Yay that you're enjoying Torchwood now!! :D

I've always assumed the 3-D glasses are his signature item purely because they featured in Rose's last episodes. Otherwise it could just as easily have been a perception key, a tie, pinstripes, Converses, an Adipose, or any other number of things.

LOL!! Countrycide was a good eppie...and it was ripped straight off of Supernatural's 'The Benders'. I knew the moment I saw it that RTD must be a Supernatural fan (and indeed he confirmed it after the airing of the episode). Did the same thing (in many ways) the SPN eppie did - proved that sometimes, the monsters are not what you would think they would be.
