Here we are on day 4 of NaNoWriMo, and my husband gives me an idea for a different, much better story to write! Why couldn't he have come up with this two weeks ago?!? I'm not sure if I should switch over.

Pros:

  • It's a better idea.
  • I'd be much more excited about writing it.
  • The first two chapters of the current story are so boring I'm having trouble getting through them.

Cons:

  • This story is complicated enough that I need to outline it before I start.
  • It also requires quite a bit of research, so I probably can't start writing for another few days.

Sigh. What to do, what to do!

Go with the new idea!! The enthusiasm will help you catch up, rather than trying to struggle (and giving up) on a project that holds no interest at the moment...maybe working on that will help you view the previous project in a new way!

*HUGS*

Write the story you're excited about. If you're bored, you're not going to write. If the other story interests you, you'll likely write more and make up for lost time. I wrote A Change is As Good As a Rest in 12 days and it was just over 50k, but it was easy because I was so into the story. I believe you've got this!

Switching does sound good—even if you can't catch up for the late days, you'll be more motivated and more satisfied of what you'll achieve! Go for it :)
