The rare pimp post
Aug. 1st, 2022 07:44 pmHey there! So let's start out with the pimp part of the post:
If you can, please donate to the GISH "Change a Life - Ukraine" campaign at this link:

And now, the explanation...
GISH is the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt, a week-long scavenger hunt devoted to kindness and weirdness. It was started by Misha Collins well over a decade ago, and on the face of it, is a hunt for the weirdest activities you can think of - things from "polish a coconut" to "recreate a scene from Supernatural using rubber ducks as the characters" to "set up a dog kissing booth on your street" to "get two elected officials on opposite sides of the political fence to cooperate and complete a task". However, GISH encourages kindness, charity, and inclusivity; many of the items are things like "make a 'keeping cool' care package for your mail carrier to help make their job easier" or "set up a 'take one, leave one' toy library at your local park". GISH itself does charity work, and a portion of your registration fee gets donated; this year, it's going to Nova Ukraine.
My friends recruited me for this, and this year's hunt started on Saturday. I'm not one for going outside and doing stuff, so mostly I'm doing indoor craft items. My first completed one is doing "crossover poetry", which means, take two vastly different poems, mix up the words, and write a new poem using them. (I haven't decided if the new poem is simply gibberish or extremely profound.) Another one that I'm doing is building a lintel made of lint.
One of the activities that I'm working on is gathering donations for GISH's "Change a Life - Ukraine" program. They do a "Change a Life" program each year, and this year, it's to help fund the efforts of their people who are currently in Ukraine helping disabled and marginalized people who have been displaced by the war. 90% of the donations are going toward either purchasing wheelchairs and other specialized equipment for people who had to leave theirs behind as they fled or funding two shelters for women and LGBTQIA+ Ukrainian citizens. (The campaign is through Random Acts, and the other 10% goes to Random Acts' general fund for other campaigns.)
So here I am, asking that if you can, please donate. Don't donate to help us in the scavenger hunt; my team is in it for the fun, so while we do get points for donations made through that link above, we really don't care if we score points or not. Donate to help GISH help those most vulnerable people suffering from the war that's ravaging their country. Here's the link again.
