Today would have been the first day of Gallifrey One 32 "Thirty-Second to Midnight", but it was postponed until next year for obvious reasons. It's disappointing, of course, that we aren't getting to see our good friends and geek out about Doctor Who for a whole weekend. That convention is something we look forward to the whole year.

But we aren't going to let it get us down. We've taken the time off from work as we would for the convention, meaning Thursday through Monday, and we're having our own convention of two. Welcome to Gallifrey 32i "The Gally That Never Was"! (It's 32i because i is an imaginary number...) We've planned out a few panels and events for the weekend, just for the two of us.

Today is Thursday, which is registration day, as well as Lobbycon (which is where people hang out, say hi, and trade ribbons) and the ice cream social. So, here are our convention badges, ribbons, and ice cream!

I’ve never been to Gallifrey zone ( though I do want to attend a convention one day) but it sounds fun.

When you do get to go to a convention, I definitely recommend Gallifrey One. It's specific to Doctor Who and has at least five events (panels, discussions, etc.) going on at all times, so there's always something to do. It does not focus on the modern show (which most general cons do), so plenty of classic show and Big Finish things to see. Also, though it's the largest DW con, it's much smaller than general cons - they cap it at 2500 attendees, while general cons will bring in as many paying people as they can, so they are often 10,000+ people there.

The atmosphere is very homey and inclusive, so even if you're there alone, you can walk up to anyone and talk to them and they'll welcome you in. Even the celebs at the autograph tables are happy to take the time to chat (except the really high-profile ones from the modern show).

There are a couple of other DW cons you might be interested in: Long Island Who in New York and Chicago TARDIS are the ones I know, but there might be more.
