Wow, a full week and I haven't missed one. I didn't expect that.

7. Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?

Not change, per se. I haven't liked a character I previously disliked, or vice-versa. Any exposure to Rory makes me like him more, so writing him definitely helped. Sadly, writing for Donna, Martha, and Amy made me dislike Rose more than I already do. I know that's an unpopular opinion, so I'm just going to leave it there. And anything involving Leela makes me like her more. Her innocence and simplicity, and her single-minded approach to any situation (i.e. solve it with a knife), gives you the freedom to approach situations from a completely different angle from the Doctor's or any other companion's viewpoint.

I too am of the unpopular opinion that the more I write and read Donna, Amy, and Martha, the more ill qualities of Rose I perceive. Oddly enough, this happens moreso in evenly balanced fics than in ones that simply bash the character. However the change is not so much in whether I like her, but how I understand her. If that makes any sense.
BTW, congrats on making a whole week! I'm enjoying reading your responses to this meme.

I actually don't read many Rose fics at all, either pro or con. I just have a tendency to read great stories with Donna, Amy, and Martha, and it makes me think, "Wow, if Rose had been like them, she would have been wonderful!" Not that I want her to be exactly like them - what's the point in having different companions if they're the same. It's hard to explain.

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'm having a blast answering these questions.

I'm a bit like you: writing about other female companions doesn't help my opinion of Rose at all. I didn't dislike her when watching the show, I was mostly 'Meh' about her but reading about her is making me slip into the dislike.

Exactly! The first time I watched through the show, I liked her. But then Martha came along and I just loved her, and Rose dropped down a bit. Then Donna blew them both out of the water, but while I simply liked her better than Martha, I started to see things about Rose I didn't like. And I'm sure part of it had to do with how the Doctor grew and changed once Rose was gone.
