Fifty??!?

No, I'm not talking about my age, though I could be...


Since I haven't been writing much and have been picking at WIPs as I think about them (meaning, I open up whatever sparks my fancy, read through it to remember what it's about, type a word or maybe edit a phrase, then close them and go play Diablo 3), I thought I should make a list of my WIPs so that I can consider them all together and choose one to concentrate on.

That's right: the count of WIPs came to 50 exactly.

My list includes only WIPs that either have a full wireframe of the plot or have at least four paragraphs written. It does not include simple illustrations of ideas or scenes I've written that I'd like to use but don't have a story for yet - and I have a lot of both.

Geez! I wonder if I'll ever get that number down, or if my list of WIPs is doomed to forever inflate?

One of them was a complete summary of the intended story that I didn't remember at all, so I read through it. Wow. It was just terrible, a classic example of a plotline created by an overly-enthusiastic newbie fanfic writer. Gah. That went right in the bin.

Wow. I have, like, four - although I think they all stretch the definition of "in progress" beyond what's reasonable, because I haven't been able to do any meaningful work on any of them in years (the oldest for nine years almost exactly, the most recent somewhere around two, maybe a year and a half).

Oh honey...it happens to us all. I try to not think how many WIPs I have, cause yeah..anxiety.
