I tried to write an entry for "Sun" at who_contest, but it got away from me and ended up 75% too long. But at least I wrote something! Oh, and it was written during this super-boring meeting at work, so that was a plus. It's a weekly meeting, and I'm starting to think of it as my weekly fanfic-writing time. ^_^

Was that the story you just wrote? Nicely done, but I guess it did exceed the limits of the challenge. I just read your other "42" story with Eleven and Amy, and that was beautiful; of course he would have felt guilty about that and wanted to protect at least that one star. That one actually made you feel that even Time Lords live but a flash in time compared to a star...

Yup, that's the one. Rather than try to cut it down for the contest, I just posted it. I've more or less gotten to the point of using the contest for ideas, rather than try to actually enter it.

I'm glad you liked that one! It actually was an experiment in imagery, trying to describe the Doctor's expressions and hand motions while he tells the story. I do appreciate that you got the feeling that even Time Lords are short-lived compared to a star - that was something I really wanted to convey.

It's already up! It's called "Last Stop, Then Home". I don't think it works very well. It requires a pretty detailed handle on the events in "42" to appreciate some of the nods to the episode, and without them, it'll probably seem pretty boring and pointless.

But the couple is very doomed! :D
