Author's Notes: fandomweekly's current prompt is "ceremony" and that word is only going to make me think of ceremonies in Agile methodology, because it's always struck me as odd that we use that word for a non-ritualistic process. In fact, many would argue that the whole point of Agile is to not get stuck in a codified, calcified way of thinking.

This was a fun little write and it made my husband laugh out loud (as we both have been on both sides of this, as both ICs and scrum masters). And that alone made it worth it.

Also, apparently I have invented the "software development" and "Agile methodology" tags on AO3.

Easter egg: All the characters are named after the main actors in Stargate SG-1.

Fortunately we don't use that word in the version of Agile at my workplace, or having read that I mightn't have been able to resist showing up with an active thurible...

Luckily, we don't either -- some people do use the word to refer to all of the activities as a group ("the Agile ceremonies"), but no one calls the refinement meeting the "refinement ceremony". That would just be weird. But in my brief research for the fic, I found out that it's not actually an official Agile term. It's something that kind of snuck in from an earlier methodology (extreme, I think) and has just lingered.
