Author's Notes:

I'd noticed that recently, I've been maintaining a once-a-month story-posting cadence, which is a lot more than I have been for the past few years (though admittedly, two of them were 100-word drabbles), so I thought I would try to keep that up. I opened my pile of WIPs to look for a suitable candidate to finish, and the first one was not only a holiday story, but also nearly complete - like, missing only a couple of paragraphs.

I don't actually remember writing this (other than an inkling that I once wanted to try to write a holiday story) and as I read through it, I actually had no idea how it was going to end. Luckily the ending was written, so I didn't have to try to figure it out.

Also, I figured out from the document history that I wrote this last year, not the years ago that I had assumed. From the dates, it looks like I didn't get it done in time for Christmas so I figured I'd save it for the next year. And now it's the next year. It's weeks before the holiday and I've already spent the last week in editing and rewriting, so it's ready to post early! Woohoo!

You almost had me panicking when John said "while you were keying the main door outside" to Donna. I couldn't help thinking 'Why was she ruining the front door?' Please tell me this is a cultural difference and not tne act of violence it sounds like

On a totally different note, id it possible to get an album of John's music? 😊🎻

Ha! It's sometimes so hard to realize that readers don't remember all the details that you do as the writer. They live in a flat in a converted warehouse, so there's a main, outer door to the building that's unlocked by keypad. This was mentioned in the original story, which is now eight years old, can you imagine? So of course, I just used the word "keying" because I'm picturing Donna punching buttons on the keypad on the outer door, not realizing that everyone else would be picturing her with a metal key at the door of the flat itself. :P

No, Americans would not use the word "keying" for unlocking a door with a metal key in a traditional lock. We'd assume the same as you did.

I wish I could get an album of Jon's music. I'd have that on all the time. :)
