Yes, exactly. He appears very alien in that regard, because he just doesn't give those things the same level of thought and importance as we do. Same with the flirting. (But he picks it up when it's Jack! XD) In that regard, Ten and Eleven both seemed rather alien, though they expressed it in different ways; in Nine it was somewhat less pronounced (his firm, hilarious reaction to Jackie in her nightgown, though I guess he didn't think twice about it at first; his kiss to Rose, mostly, felt so very purposeful and layered with tenderness/romantic meaning, even as it had a clear intent). Nine did have his alienness though. All the comments on humanity always made me crack up ;) Goodness, wasn't he bitchy… (That went into a bit of a tangent there.)
