My husband just messaged me, "1500 minutes to go!" and I responded back with, "EEEEE!" I can't wait!

Then I thought, "What if the final episode of the specials is bad? I'm going to be so devastated."

And then I realized, no, I'm not. Out of the first two episodes, I've gotten a new favorite. And I've gotten a new Doctor to think about, one that's substantially different from the Doctor with the same face. This Doctor isn't battling the inner darkness that continually surfaced (even his very first story) or the ravages of the Time War (which were conveniently erased in the last anniversary special). He isn't full of rage. He's learned from the incarnations since his last and is more comfortable with and accepting of himself, as well as of having friends around him. Of course, he's still wrestling with his past, but a billion years of punching a wall and learning you're not who you think you are will do that. But he's still very much the Doctor. Same software, same face, different UI/UX.

I think that even if the final episode is trash, I'll still be very happy with the 60th anniversary overall.

The one disappointment, specifically for me, through all of this, is that the timeline through the specials is so tight, there's no room for canon fanfiction for Fourteen. The Doctor travels directly from the cliff to Chiswick, then immediately gets thrown to the derelict spacecraft, then rushes back to Chiswick because Donna wants to get back to her family. And then I'm sure Fourteen's going to regenerate within this last episode. I guess I'll have to figure out stories I can write within the episodes.

I dreamed last night that there was a massive gap for more stories somewhere in the specials! Can’t remember where it was though.

I’m over here still having not seen Wild Blue Yonder. I did enjoy Star Beast ( it wasn’t 100 percent perfect, but enjoyable).

The “ no room for fanfics” though is a problem I had with the Flux plot. I
loved the team and remember liking a couple of episodes, but really wish there was some breathing room.

I’m watching Wild Blue Yonder right now. So far, it’s awesome! And… I feel like there may not be time between episodes for fanfics, but if the shippers haven’t already done it yet, there’s some pretty good moments for some hurt comfort stuff here…
