Thoughts on Ten

Along with the announcement that DT and CT will both be returning for the 60th (though no details on exactly what form that 60th will take next year), there've been pics posted of DT on set in costume. Apparently, his brown suit, rather than sporting thin teal pinstripes, is now brown-and-teal plaid. I'm sure speculation on what this means is running wild over the tubes. So what do I think?
Warning: Don't open the cut. What's inside is entirely what I hope will happen, which is probably not what you hope will happen, and you will likely be disappointed and/or horrified.
I actually took my cue from the picture showing DT in that suit and wearing a dark blue wool coat. Now, it could just be a costume protector, though usually those aren't wool coats. It looked more to me like a blue version of the brown wool coat.
And that got me thinking that this is an alternate-universe Doctor and Donna, not just D&D from Series 4 caught up in a short in the time differential and aged by fifteen years. Maybe it's alternate timeline rather than alternate universe, but further thinking on it made me decide I wanted the following, and thus it can't be alternate timeline.
Because what I want is basically "Disassembled" from Big Finish's Gallifrey series: Fourteen encounters Ten and Donna while trying to solve some situation and they work together to solve it, and just before they succeed, Ten is revealed to be the actual antagonist (yes, I'd love him to be the Burner Doctor, which I guess means that Donna will be the Best Assassin in Chiswick) - and to top it all off, Fourteen enlists whatever previous Doctors RTD can attract to defeat him.
Now that's what I want to see. It's your fault for clicking the cut.

Date: 2022-05-24 01:37 pm (UTC)I didn’t know about the suit thing so THANKS for getting me speculating now.
And there’s been a post I’ve seen that essentially says “ Please , RTD, don’t make this like the 50th” and yes, I can see that- I do wonder if we’ll get The hype for Ten & Donna like there was for Ten & BP

Date: 2022-05-25 09:00 pm (UTC)I absolutely agree, don't make this like the 50th. I loved the 50th when it came out and watched it like every day for a month. And then slowly, I started seeing all of its flaws and, well, I can't stand it anymore. Sigh.

Date: 2022-05-24 06:12 pm (UTC)They did a good job this time making him look properly like Ten. Like he always looked "off" to me in the 50th. I know that in season 2 (with Rose) he really did have that much flatter hair than the wild cock's-comb 'do from season 4 (Donna) but still... somehow I was like "I'm not buying it". There was something about his face, too. Yet despite him being even older now it's somehow sitting better with me.

Date: 2022-05-25 09:11 pm (UTC)I'm pretty much convinced that the 50th tried to make Ten look bad. Couple the way he looked (come on, the BBC makeup and hairstyling department must be better than that!) and the way he was treated (Ten was the inept, bumbling comic relief who didn't do a single thing right) with Clara's reference to War and Ten as "We've got enough warriors; any old idiot can be a hero" while Sir John and DT had to stand there staring blankly off into space and I think it's pretty obvious that the 50th was meant to be a love song to Eleven.
