Adventure in reality
Jun. 30th, 2020 04:54 pmThe trip to the bank went really well. They have separated the entrance foyer, which has two doors on opposite sides, so that you can only enter through one door and exit through the other. There's a greeter at the front, and if you're wearing a mask, he routes you where you need to go. If you're not, then you can just turn back around and go wait in your car for curbside service or go through the drive-up. All of the bank employees were wearing masks, and when I sat down with the financial advisor to go over my questions with the form, we were on opposites sides of a table with a plastic shield between us. All great precautions and I'm pretty happy.
Also, on the drive home, I saw something which I'd seen before and it still makes me giggle with delight. There's this realtor in town who has, as long as I can remember, taken out billboards to advertise his services. They're supposed to be eye-catching, so they always say something like "My home is worth HOW MUCH?" in all caps, with a pic of the guy with super-anime-surprised face and both hands slapped to the sides of his face. He definitely goes for the vibe of the old used-car-salesman commercials.
Not long after we went into lockdown, he changed all his ads. Well, they're pretty much still the same, except now he wears a mask over his big-O surprised face. It's awesome. If we ever sell our house, we might just contract him to do it, just for this.
