Oh dear, this is utterly fascinating. Brilliant writing as always, with a very elegant and flowing style. Great insight, on Daughter of Mine, on Ten and Eleven. The image of her in the mirror, the stillness and silence at first as she faced Ten was fascinating. I loved her always wanting to call out to him, making up ways in her head, but knowing she could not trick or deceive him, and never quite daring to make the move. All that rage and fear. And when she finally did, their confrontation was perfect—Ten so calm and cold, forbidding and infuriating, and her keeping up a controlled façade. Great dialogue. Her outburst of rage, once he'd left, was very striking, and most of all the balloon that remained unmarred despite her vicious attack.

The difference between Ten and Eleven was really fascinating—how Ten had still been held by anger, cold as ice as he faced her, but Eleven was freed by time and the change, and considered her with curiosity, giving her a chance to show if she had learned. The girl's reactions to him were all quite interesting, and her confronting him about regeneration was really well handled and thought-provoking, especially considering the current era and Twelve's face. ;)

I loved the way you brought the change in her—slowly, so slowly, as she sought pain and hunting first in what she beheld, feeding on others' suffering. Even when she saw her home she looked down at her people after the first thrill, but eventually it had to happen, one being slipping into that icy eternal heart. And what had happened once could now happen again, and again, and there she learned and her penance truly began—her scene with Eleven as she realized that was another spot-on interaction, with how he saw it at once, the gentleness he showed, the chance he'd given her and her only. To understand, she had to know love and loss, and the two went together. The bane of living forever. Outliving him even, and that she cannot bear, being truly alone. I like the contrast between her calm questions at first, and then the violently desperate outburst as she realized it was truly the end. And that ending, her asking to be laid to rest and his gathering her in his arms as he set her free… It was just very beautiful.

Outstanding piece! Your insight and talent just leave me in awe. Thank you for sharing this. ♥
