Of course you already know that David Tennant was awarded the Special Recognition award at the NTAs. How can you not know by now? It's just wonderful, really. To see him recognized for his incredibly hard work, talent, and achievements was just... Oh geez, I just don't have the words. I'm so happy for him.

Every time I've seen him in an interview, he's always seemed so humble, so amazed that anyone's paying him any attention. I hope he really knows how much everyone loves and respects him. Because a lot of the time, he seems to not really know that, and he should.

I agree entirely. When I first fell for DT, oh, so long ago now, my husband used to scoff whenever he saw him in interviews, saying that it was all an act and that no one, especially someone in the entertainment industry, could be as self-effacing and gracious as Tenant seems to be.

Over the years, however, I've noticed a subtle shift in his comments. Now they're all jabs at the neck beard in Broadchurch (which he loves so much he won't watch it until all the episodes are out and he can just binge it) and he actually seeks out anything with DT in it, which makes my life immeasurably easier.

If only there were more people like him in the world.

I completely fell for him when I first started watching his DW episodes, which is now only about 1.5 years ago. I'd seen him in HP4 back in 2005 or whenever it came out, but they'd gutted the character so badly (Barty in the books was so very interesting; Barty in the movies was nothing, sadly) that I really didn't see past the disappointing movie into his performance.

But it completely amazes me just how good and simple a person he is. You know, when you watch an interview or talk show with him, though of course the focus is on him, he has this way of melting into the background, as if he doesn't believe that anyone really wants to talk to him. Maybe the word is "gracious".

My husband is tickled that I'm so taken with DT. He's said that if he could, he'd pay for me to have a chance to meet and talk with DT for a bit. My husband knows me and what I'd want so well. :)

I've had to corral some of the tumblr blogs I follow into a "STFU about David Tennant" folder because it's been such an echo chamber of videos and gifs and etc. between this and Broadchurch (and DT's general awesomeness! I say "STFU" with affection). At first I was like geez people, maybe someone cries during an acceptance speech but what are you all on about, crying watching it?

And then I watched it.

Yeah. That inset showing his reactions while he watched the tribute was just incredible. I didn't cry, but wow, I have to say, I've never felt so happy for someone I don't know personally.

Isn't it amazing that he was so surprised? He is an unbelievably humble person. And I've heard he's also rather shy.
