Letter from camp!

Camp Nanowrimo is going well: I was actually keeping up with the daily word count target until yesterday. As a reminder, I decided that instead of working on one specific piece for the entire camp, I would just try to write 20k words on whatever I felt like, with the hope that I would complete some of my WIPs.

Well, so far, it's been pretty successful. Looking through my WIPs, I found a file with three rather nice paragraphs completed and no indication of what they were intended for. I had absolutely no idea what the concept for the story was. So, I just came up with one and finished it. This is the reason that I missed the word count yesterday - I'm in the editing phase and that doesn't generate words. It's a really weird story - I'm not even sure it qualifies as a story. It's more like an essay. I don't know what to think about it, but hey, it's a complete work that didn't start with an external prompt! It still needs to ferment for a few days, and then I'll post it.

However, the good news is that CN is doing exactly what I hoped it would do, which is coax me to write, no matter what it is I write about. I've gotten some good work done on some of my fragments (but not on my [livejournal.com profile] dw_guestfest piece - any of the three of them that I've started for that thon) and I'm rather happy with that. I feel like I'm finally emerging from the desert. What I'd really like to do is hit 150% of my target by the end of the month. Of course, I'm not on track for that at this point, but I just need to push myself.

How fantastic that you were able to revamp a discovered WIP! You must be really chuffed.

Good luck with your writing; may the words flow out of you. [Don't forget that random generator tool if your muse needs a prod. ;) ]

I am! Though it's really a weird one. Ah well, weird is fine.

I'm so pleased for you and looking forward to reaping the fruits of your labors.

And weird is WONDERFUL!

As long as you feel good and you are getting those words out - that is a win!
