[#283 | First Impressions] Voting Post

Apologies again for the delay on this! The laptop should be home tonight, so voting will close on time.

Here are the entries for this challenge:

List of entries )

Please Note: Because we only have 3 entries this week, there is only a First Place and Runner Up to vote for!

In order to vote, please reply to this post using the form provided. All comments are screened, and entries are listed in the order they were submitted. For your vote to qualify, you must fill out your entire voting card (both spots) in order to be counted. Winner votes are worth 2 points, Runner Up votes are worth 1 point. Meeting the bonus goal on an entry gets an extra point for that submission.

When voting, please copy/paste the ENTRY NUMBER and the FIC TITLE from the list above into the spot you're voting for (this prevents accidentally mis-numbering a vote and casting it for the wrong entry). It should look like this:

First Place: 61. Fic Title Here
Runner Up: 88. Another Fic Title

Please note that you cannot vote for your own entry, and that votes cannot be made anonymously. You do not have to be a member of the community in order to vote, nor have submitted an entry for this week; everyone is welcome to participate in the voting. IP addresses are logged to prevent duplicate voting.

Voting closes Wednesday, December 17 at 9:00PM EST.

Apologies for the lack of a voting post last night, folks - RL happened and I've been inconveniently computerless for a couple days. Post will be up as soon as I can sort it out on a work computer!

[#283] little bird, fly through my window (Futurama)

Theme Prompt: #283 - First Impressions
Title: little bird, fly through my window
Fandom:  Futurama (Specifically referencing the pilot and mostly "Lethal Inspection" [Season 7, EP6])
Rating/Warnings: Very cautious Teen rating/PG-13 due to Bender's canonical suicide attempt in the pilot being mentioned.
Word Count:  679 words
Author's Note: I promise I did not intend for this to be late as it was!! My internet acted up really badly partway through the editing process (aka it cut out at least three times!!). Please forgive me here, mods. Please enjoy my humble attempt at Futurama fic :)
Summary:  Hermes' first moment working with a bending unit moves him to pursue a new employer. Three years later, a depressed bending unit named Bender has the strangest job interview he's ever had by choice, with an oddly familiar Bureaucrat as an interviewer.

This time of year can be busy and stressful for a lot of people. How do your characters deal with stress? Write a scene showing one or two characters trying to cope with stress. Do they need some time alone?

( And a gentle reminder- Please be kind,  take the time you need, and Merry Christmas)

ALEXANDER SKARSGÅRD AS MURDERBOT IN MURDERBOT SEASON 1

811 CAPS, (720 AS HUMAN, 91 AS MURDERBOT), DOWNLOAD

Obviously his expression barely changed, but I loved his performance so much.

I plan on capping Heated Rivalry, The Mighty Nein, and eventually Fallout, when they're all finished their new season.

Rec [fic]: The Annoyances of the Future being Reliant on the Doctor's Pet by ThoughtsCascade

Title: The Annoyances of the Future being Reliant on the Doctor's Pet
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] ThoughtsCascade
Rating: Not Rated
Word Count/Length/Size: 1981 words
Creator's Summary:
Missy heaved a sigh, rolling her eyes. "Time Lady. I can sense time loops. Time travel tastes different." She blinked innocently. "I could pull a Doctor and lick you to check, but really, the smell alone is enough. Would put me off my lunch, if I wasn't an unrepentant murder. Isn't much worse than blood. So. How long, and what was the inciting incident?"

Or, Missy is trapped in a time loop with one Clara Oswald, and neither are particularly pleased with this fact.
Characters/Pairings: Missy, Clara Oswald
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: It's a really interesting time loop - much longer than you generally get when you think of the trope - which makes it fun. And it's also Missy being Missy and being annoyed with Clara, which is fun.

[#283 | First Impressions] Challenge Post

Challenge 283:
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Whether it’s a job interview, your first day at a new school, or an audience with royalty, first impressions can be important. But they aren’t always easy! Sometimes everything works out, and it’s love (or job offer) at first sight; other times, you trip on a shoelace you could have sworn wasn’t untied five minutes ago, or stub your toe and say a word you shouldn’t say in front of your boss’s boss’s boss, or a supervolcano erupts and you have to immediately cut the interview short to go suit up and save the world.

What kind of first impressions do your characters make? Good ones? Bad ones? Memorable ones, for all the right or wrong reasons?

Write a story about first impressions.

BONUS GOAL: All Suited Up

If your submission features someone in a suit, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, December 15 at 9:00PM EST.
• Post submissions as new entries using the template in the profile
• Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 283 – first impressions
• If you have questions about this challenge, please ask them here
